May Day in Kashubia: Motorcycle paradise

If the March trips in the snow were a test of character, then the May trip is a well-deserved reward. It’s the time of year when the motorcycle fraternity leaves their garages en masse, and Kashubia turns into the most beautiful playground in this part of Poland.

Direction: the Kashubian Loop (The Ultimate Ride).

For the long weekend in May, we recommend a route that will allow you to feel freedom on every run:

1. Start: Kartuzy (Capital of Kashubia) – The ideal base for your trip. Before you set off, take a look at the Collegiate Church with its coffin-shaped roof (climate!).
2. Chmielno and Ostrzyce – This is where the dance begins. The famous Kashubian Road is a string of winding roads around the Radunskie and Ostrzyckie lakes. The asphalt is already warmed up, so you can brave the tires.
3. Ascent of Wieżyca – The highest peak in the region. It’s worth getting off the couch for a moment to look at the panorama of the lakes, which are an amazing deep blue at this time of year.
4. Bytow – A destination perfect for lunch. The Teutonic castle makes a brilliant backdrop for photos of your machine.

Why is a May trip to Kashubia a hit?

• Temperature: you can finally take the undercoat off your jacket! Averaging 15-18°C, it’s the perfect conditions to stay cool and not get sweaty.
• Grip: After the spring rains, the sand and salt have disappeared from the roads. You can finally feel what a good “grip” means.
• Climate: Nothing beats drinking coffee on a lakeside terrace in the sunshine while your engine is slowly ticking away, cooling down next to a table.

💡 May Survival Guide

While it is beautiful, keep a few things in mind:

• Invasion of tourists: May Day is not just us. There will be “Sunday drivers” and campers on the roads. Keep a rule of limited trust, especially on narrow local roads.
• Reservations: If you’re planning an overnight stay, don’t count on luck. The best agritourisms with indoor parking are going faster than fresh yeast in Koscierzyna.
• Insects: Yes, it’s that time. Your helmet glass will look like a battlefield after 100 km. Have fluid and a microfiber cloth with you!

A little technical advice:

Since it’s already warm, check your tire pressure. The value you set in March at 2°C has now surely changed.

May Day is the official holiday of every motorcyclist. Kashubia is waiting with open arms and the best serpentines in the north.
